講演題目: A Stabilization Method for the Hydrogen Diffusion Model in Materials

講演概要:
In spite of decades of research effort, hydrogen assisted cracking is still the most serious problem in steel welding. Hydrogen embrittlement is still not clear, and a coupled diffusion elasto-plastic stress analysis is needed to model the effects of hydrostatic stress and hydrogen trapping due to plasticity on the hydrogen distribution in a body. The finite element method is a very useful tool for this purpose. P. Sofronis and R. McMeeking conducted several researches on hydrogen diffusion in material. In this talk, we highlight the existence of some instability appearing for high values of the Peclet number in the model of hydrogen diffusion in materials previously established by P. Sofronis and R. McMeeking and later improved by Krom et al.. We also focus on a way to solve this instability problem and therefore improve this model by using a stabilization technique.
