Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Flow Problems and Validated Computations

NAGASAKI WASHINGTON HOTEL, Nagasaki, Japan
November 20-22, 2005

Announcement

++ Date: November 20-22, 2005
++ Place: Nagasaki Washington Hotel, 9-1, Shinchi-machi, Nagasaki 850-0842, JAPAN

++ The aim of this workshop:

This is a workshop jointly organized by Professors Masahisa Tabata and Mitsuhiro T. Nakao of Kyushu University. The former is the leader of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (S): Development and analysis of high-quality numerical methods and simulation for flow problem, and the latter is the leader of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A): Research on the numerical verification methods toward a computer aided mathematical analysis. Both Researches are supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together invited researchers, members of two research projects, and other participants so that they can exchange ideas and information on numerical analysis of flow problems, validated computations, and related topics. This time we have six invited speakers from Germany, Korea, and Japan. The workshop will be done in an atmosphere at home in a hotel at Nagasaki. Nagasaki was the only one gateway city opened to foreign countries during the Edo period, Japan's period of isolation that was continued from 17th to 19th centuries. This year is just 60th anniversary of atomic bombing of this city. Today it was restored to a beautiful city. It is our pleasure to meet and communicate with new and old friends peacefully at this historical city.

++ Invited speakers:

  Götz Alefeld (Universität Karlsruhe)

  Youngmok Jeon (Ajou University)

  Takashi Kako (The University of Electro-Communications)

  Sangdong Kim (Kyungpook National University)

  Hyung-Chun Lee (Ajou University)

  Shin'ichi Oishi (Waseda University)

++ Scientific program:

The scientific program will consist of invited plenary lectures and contributed presentations. Each plenary lecture includes a 40-minute talk with additional 5 minutes for discussion. A contributed presentation involves a 20-minute oral presentation with additional 5 minutes for discussion. The conference language is English.

++ Abstracts:

All speakers are requested to send an abstract in PDF format to Q-NA-Sympo@math.kyushu-u.ac.jp by October 31, 2005. Each abstract will be of 2-10 pages in A4 size in a format, whose sample LaTeX file can be got from here. You may replace the abstract by a related preprint or published paper. They are combined into a volume of Abstracts, which will be distributed to each participant at the registration desk in the conference. Therefore, in the case of replacement by a published paper, please pay attention to copyright transfer agreement that you have exchanged with a publisher on the paper. The organizing committee is not responsible for this matter.
